Engineering Co-Op

H & P Technologies, Inc. is a fast-growing industrial distributor and service company based in Warren, Michigan. Our Behco-MRM division, which is located in Warren, MI, is an industrial distributor of fluid power, motion control & automation components and systems. Behco-MRM also is a distributor of collaborative robots.

Behco is looking for energetic and motivated individuals to join our Engineering Co-Op Program. As a Co-Op employee, you will utilize technical and analytical skills to assist in the development of system solutions in support of internal and external customers. Behco’s Application Engineering team designs and develops system solutions in the areas of pneumatic and electrical motion control and automation, as well as collaborative robotics and vision systems.

Our Co-Op program’s process follows a progressive development structure that is aligned with a mentor who works closely with each individual, guiding their development and assisting the individual accomplishment of goals and objectives. The individual will work closely with Behco Application and Design Engineers to expand their technical knowledge, as well as hands on experience and exposure to our products and engineered application solutions. Along with enhancing technical knowledge, our program will also expose the individual to our sales process and provide direct customer exposure and interaction.

Responsibilities
  • Interface with customers and field sales personnel in-person, via telephone, and email to help them:
  • Determine which product is most appropriate for their application
  • Properly size our products for their application
  • Apply our products in their applications
  • Resolve issues they encounter in their development activities
  • Resolve concerns or application issues
  • Demonstrate product functionality to enhance customer understanding of unique product functions and features
  • Participate in trade shows and presentations for various venues like Automation Alley, IMTS, and Automate
  • Act in a support role to the Sales Territory Managers, Account Managers, and Product Managers through joint sales calls and other collaborative activities
  • Communicate and work as part of a team, working toward shared goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Solid computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Must be self-confident, organized, and manager time efficiently
  • Basic electrical skills are desired but not mandatory.
  • Willing to learn about electrical design ad sizing
  • Problem solving skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Follow-up skills
