Govern for America - Fellowship (paid, full-time)

The GFA Fellowship is a two-year paid opportunity for recent graduates to serve in high-impact roles in governments across the country as a part of a diverse community of engaged leaders.

Government is where we tackle our nation’s toughest challenges. From combatting the COVID-19 pandemic to ending mass incarceration to expanding access to high-quality pre-K, this is where we see leadership in action. But we’re facing a talent crisis at a moment when leadership matters more than ever. Many of our leaders do not reflect the backgrounds and lived experience of our communities, while trust in our public institutions is at an all-time low.
The next generation is frustrated with our political systems and passionate about social change, yet don't see government as the place to make their impact. If we want policy that is designed around people, we need to work within our government systems to drive transformational change at scale. Now more than ever we need emerging leaders from all backgrounds to step up to do the work that matters, where it matters.

Govern For America’s Fellows hail from 16 states and 18 academic institutions and represent a diverse community — 58% identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, 23% identify with the LQBTQ+ community, 35% are in the first generation of their family to attend college, and 69% identify as women. The Fellows come to GFA with a wide range of academic backgrounds - from public policy to business analytics to comparative literature and public health and more — and bring a broad set of perspectives and lived experiences to their work in our partner states.
