JOB DESCRIPTION:
Veo is building safety-critical systems leveraging advanced computer vision, robotics, and 3D sensing that will transform manufacturing. Our systems engineering team is tasked with answering the question of how our system operates and how it integrates with the existing components of an industrial workcell. We are looking for an Automation Engineering Coop to contribute in all aspects of workcell integration, from characterizing multi-DOF robot dynamics, to writing PLC ladder logic for coordinating workcell automation to be controlled from an HMI.
You will:
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the goals and capabilities of our system
  • Commission PLCs, HMIs and industrial robots to support the manufacturing workflows we enable
  • Design system architectures, write and troubleshoot ladder logic to implement control of automated systems and components
  • Design and build industrial control panels and electrical control systems
  • Work with a variety of mechanical and electrical components used for industrial applications
  • Work directly with robot manufacturers on interface development
  • Keep up with relevant developments in robot dynamics and controls through literature searches, networking, conferences, etc
You are:
  • A rising junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student with at least one co-op or internship experience
  • Experienced in robotic workcell automation, or multidisciplinary engineering fields
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous in your approach to experimentation, able to precisely document protocols and direction
  • Comfortable troubleshooting independently and collaboratively, as necessary
  • An enthusiastic collaborator willing to operate outside your area of direct expertise to solve hard problems with the rest of our cross-disciplinary team
